Cherie Vera graduated in 2007 from
USQ with BMus (Honours). Whilst there, she
sang lead roles in Orfeo and Euridice,
The Telephone, The Beggar’s Opera, The Magic
Flute, Carousel and Cosi fan tutte.
Cherie was a Guest Soloist at AGMF Hymns
of Praise (03), the World Premiere of Elena
Kats-Chernin ‘Lillian’s Aria’ (07) and a
chorus member in Opera Queensland’s
Strike up the Chorus (05). Cherie has
performed Mabel (Pirates of Penzance)
and Tuptim (King and I) with the
Choral Society and also co-coordinated and
Musical Directed Annie Jnr and
Cinderella. Cherie was runner-up in the
TS Burstow Opera Gala in 2010 and winner in
2011. Cherie keeps busy with her vocal
studio, conductor of the choral program at
Concordia Lutheran College and performing
around the region. Since returning
from a study tour in the USA with leading
professions in vocal technique and choral
conducting, Cherie is performing La
Carlotta in Phantom of the Opera
at the Empire Theatre in 2014.
